"Liv is the only comprehensive cycling brand dedicated solely to women. In everything we do, we put women first:

We design and build innovative bikes and gear that fit and perform at the highest level, for riders of all styles, abilities, and fitness levels, all around the world.

We offer content, programs, and partnerships that support rider development, from skill-building and bike maintenance to race opportunities and travel ideas, making Liv the go-to source for women’s cycling.

We cultivate an inclusive and enthusiastic rider community, online and on the ground, where women feel not just welcome but important.

Liv was founded in 2008 by Bonnie Tu, of Giant Bicycles, when she couldn't find the right gear and bikes for herself. She saw an opportunity to make cycling more inclusive. This is still our mission at Liv – and our commitment is stronger than ever. "

Coronavirus Update

In lieu of the coronavirus, Zak's is asking everyone to minimize their amount of time at the shop. The governor asks all essential businesses to take extra precautions when conducting business. Limiting how many customers at one time and utilizing the drop-off and pick-up method is essential to health and safety at this moment.

We encourage customers to utilize us for their bike needs but we also ask that you please call us first, discuss over the phone what the issues are, and then drop the bike or bikes off.

  • We will call you with a phone estimate before the work is performed, no surprises.
  • We'll call you when the work is done, usually two or three days turnaround time.
  • You can also pay by phone, again to minimize contact.

So grab your mask and come to Zak's because we're still open for business! However, due to the newest safety measures provided to us by Governor Wolf, any customer NOT wearing a mask will be turned away. We've adding plexiglass at the register, sanitizing the store multiple times a day for your safety.

We appreciate all of you and we want you to be safe as we get through this difficult situation.

Get Your Child Exercising with Cycling!

Cycling Along the Great Allegheny Passage
Cycling Along the Great Allegheny Passage
Cycling is one of the most popular ways to burn up some calories, get in shape, and take pleasure in some family bonding time. For those families searching for a family activity that will allow more time with one another AND help them to stay healthy and fit, cycling may be just the answer.

All parents wish for the best for their children, and when they see that their kids are miserable or overweight, they understand right away that it's time to act and do something. The trouble with other types of exercises is that it makes you feel exhausted to do, making it less appealing, especially for the young ones. Therefore, kids won't stick to it.

Cycling exercise, however, offers something simple to get into, interesting, and presents an outstanding opportunity to bond with the family as you get in shape. This is a winning situation for many parents as they get to spend some quality time with their kids and allow them to get in shape in the process. For most children, cycling doesn't feel like an enormous activity or an exercise routine, it is instead an amazing thing to long for as an activity to do with your parents, siblings and other family members as well.

Cycling can start out as a simple spin around the neighborhood or around the corner if you have to begin slowly. The key to getting kids engaged in any activity is to start off gradually and ease them into the physical part of it so that they don't get uninterested or discouraged.

Cycling can start out slowly and be developed to giving kids some big goal setting probability as they build up their staying power and capability. Once the family starts to get into healthier shape, then it's the perfect time to measure it up to a higher level and find some amusing courses and trails for the family to travel on. Cycling can quickly become an activity to look forward to whenever time permits, as every recreation is always an exciting activity.

The kids can get involved in the selection of the trails or paths that the family sets out on. This will let them feel appreciated and important as they get to speak out and suggest their ideas. You will clearly see how cycling can not only develop into an excellent family activity, but also an activity where the whole family can achieve to get in better shape without ever feeling like they are exercising. The best part? You get to have quality time with your family and stay healthy at the same time.

If you are local to the Pittsburgh area, we can have you fitted for a bicycle and on your way to riding the trails. Zak’s Bicycle Shop is located in McKeesport, PA., conveniently located in between Patterson Street and Eden Park Blvd on Walnut Street and less than 1 1/2 miles from the Boston Bike Trail Access to the Great Allegheny Passage. We are also easily accessible from the Loop Trail.
